Versatile Blogger Award

I’m going to need a bigger trophy shelf.

But I jest.

In all sincerity, thank you Lorenza for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award.  Acknowledgement by one’s peers is a wonderful thing, and while they say there’s no such thing as bad publicity, one positive outshines a dozen negatives.  Being included in such a creative and talented group, I’m privileged and at a loss for words.

Well not exactly at a loss.

Lorenza and I crossed paths recently.  I believe it was shortly after I was nominated for the coveted Blogging Survivalist Award (a fictitious accolade I made up and shamelessly bestowed upon myself).  A follow-for-follow later, we connected, and I’ve been a fan of her blog ‘Life…and Stuff’ ever since.  Lorenza is a wonderful writer with a knack for commentating on life’s challenges, the journey of self-discovery, and the importance of friends (Fluffy and Buffy).  Please check it out here.  Cat lovers are also welcome.

As with any Blogging Award, there are rules to be followed.  For the sticklers, you will find them here.  The condensed version is simpler; acknowledge, thank & promote, tell us 7 things, nominate.

Before confirming that my blog was indeed worthy of the nomination, I opted to follow a completely unrelated rabbit trail, researching the term ‘versatile’, just to ensure I knew what I was accepting.

Aside from the standardized Merriam-Webster interpretation, to my delight, I found an older, slightly obscure definition, a synonym of sorts, for the term ‘versatile’.

Inconstant.

No, not incontinent (I know what you’re thinking), inconstant.

A light went on.

The Inconstant Blogger Award.

Perfection.  The title reflected my blog explicitly.

I delved further.

And found three varying definitions for ‘inconstant’.inconstant_blogger_award

Variable or irregular’.  Yes, definitely fits my writing style.

‘Likely to change frequently without apparent or cogent reason’.  Okay, not a glowing tribute, but I can live with it.

‘Not staying the same, especially in emotion, behaviour, or choice of sexual partner’.  Wait –what?  Where was I going with this?

Damn those rabbit trails.

No longer will I wander.  After all, who am I to tinker with an official accreditation?

Versatile Blogger Award it is.

Here are seven random facts about me,

I rarely eat breakfast.

I hate the first draft of anything I write; chapter, article, letter, paragraph, sentence.  I mean hate.

I love the movie Polar Express, but the elves freak me out.  There are way too many of them.  Every time I watch I can’t help but envision an invasion.

I graduated from the same University as Martin Short, John Candy, Eugene Levy and Ivan Reitman.

I saw Madonna in concert back in the 80’s.  I still have the t-shirt.

I was a member of a Ukrainian Polka Band in my early 20’s.  At a gig in Cleveland Ohio, an old fella collapsed and died on the dance floor in the middle of our set.  It was his last waltz.

One time I called into work sick, when I wasn’t really sick.

  1. Thank you for the nominating me and congrats on your own nomination! So what do I do for the post on my own blog? Do I post 7 random facts about myself as well and then nominate other bloggers?

PS: I love the Polar Express! I used to watch it every year other than The Grinch. My mom and I love to sing “When Christmas comes to Town” yeah the elves are creepy but the way they monitor kids all over the world is pretty high-tech.

    1. My pleasure Emily, your blog is well deserving. If you click the link in my post, it will take you to a page that sets out the rules. Basically, you are supposed to acknowledge the person who nominated you, post a link to their blog, then list the 7 random facts about yourself, then nominate others (it says 15, but I stuck with 5). you add links to their pages, and you should notify them that they’ve been nominated. There are many Versatile Blogger Award images available, you can use anyone, I chose to create my own. If you have any other questions, fire away!

  2. Another Great post, I love how you go off on a tangent about the meaning of the word versatile. Although I won’t follow suit and give you the mathematical various of tangent you can follow that rabbit hole if you wish. Congrats and always a pleasure to read.

    1. I saw her in Toronto, probably around the same time, we may have seen the same show! I came across the shirt a couple of years back while sorting through a closet. Funny thing, that shirt managed to shrink two sizes just sitting in a closet. I still squeezed it on though, much to the chagrin of our 13 year old.
      Cheers, thanks for the comment!
