In honor of Friday the 13th, I present my latest work of fiction. Inspired by both the bleakness of winter’s grip, and the loneliness of a disturbed soul, I felt it appropriate to pay homage to the evil that dwells within all of us.
Be safe, the power of suggestion is sinister. Never Overlook what may be hiding in the shadows of one’s own mind.

My pleasure and thanks so much for the kind words Lydia! Love the Shining, one of the best horror films, from the location, to the actors, to the stylistic direction, a true classic in every respect. Cheers!

Ha, good one Theresa! No, I’ve not lost it, but I did find a way to write a 1000 word in a very short period of time. Actually, by the time I formatted everything correctly, I probably could have written an entire original piece. Oh well. Glad you stopped by! Hope your 13th was exciting!

Wow! I read this on my phone first and scrolled and scrolled…and scrolled. Good one Mike! Lol

Thanks Lorenza! I was hoping the reference would not be lost on my readers, otherwise I’m sure a few people would be shaking their heads. The Shining has always been a classic, and fortunately, struggling with a topic for this week, I was able to cheat a bit on my word count. Glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the feedback! Cheers!

Cheers, thank you! There’s never a bad time for a visit to the Overlook Hotel, not in my opinion!

I believe many years back they held a writer’s conference at that very hotel. Not sure if it ever became a regular thing, but that would have been one conference I would have gladly attended. Though I probably would have been at the bar most of the time.

No worries, I liked your original wording, it seemed to fit, considering Jack froze to death at the end of the movie. Cheers!

I so love the Shinning Steven king did not like Jack Nicolson to play the lead role turns out it is the right and only choice. Nice one.

Nicholson is one of the greatest ever, but for me it was the entire mix, the location, stylistic direction, Shelly Duval’s performance, all of it came together to make a classic. I’m with you on this one, all the way! Cheers, and thanks for commenting!

The Shining still fills me with dread. Think I was a little too young when I first saw it.

I read the book initially, and although I’m a big King fan, The Shining was not one of my favourites. The movie however, is one of those rare gems that brings the novel to life, and in some respects, heightens the creepiness. Cheers, and thanks for the shout outs!

I don’t mind some gore, as long as it’s essential to the storyline. I agree, gore for gore’s sake is usually overdone. Cheers!
