Unleashing my debut novel; Apocalypse – Cape Breton Island upon the cyber world, I feel a bit like Navin R. Johnson (Steve Martin) in the 1979 film, The Jerk.
The short YouTube clip below captures the magnitude of the event.
“I wish I could get that excited about nuttin’.”
For anyone interested in the genre, the tale is a first-person, stream of consciousness journey through a post-apocalyptic Canadian wasteland, decimated by a viral epidemic (sorry, no zombies). Written (intentionally) without plot, direction, or character maps, the unorthodox story unfolds organically, through the eyes of our protagonist (widower and raging alcoholic), Jack. Strewn with Canadian content, locales and occasional hockey references, the journey takes our hero from Ontario, to the 3rd most beautiful island in the world (rated 1st in North America); Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
And I’ll leave it at that.
The book’s available on most Amazon sites (.com, .ca, .UK, etc.), in both paperback and e-book. (I prefer the paperback version).
And there you have it.
Something we’ve all been waiting for.
The new phone book—is here.
Until next time.
Congrats, Mike! Let me know when the tour happens. Ecstatic for you.

Thank you Susan! You’ve been a huge boost, I appreciate your comments, always. I know I’m not nearly there yet, but I’m hoping publishing this will get me to either p*ss, or get off the pot once and for all. Cheers!

Thanks Theresa! You’ve been a great supporter all along. (check your Twitter messages). I actually feel numb, kind of like I want to ‘unsend’ and ‘unpublish’ everything . But it doesn’t work that way. Oh well. Cheers, I appreciate the kind words.

Thanks Helen! Welcome to WordPress! This is my first attempt, but learned lots, so I’m hoping my follow up book will reflect that. At the very least I’ll have loads of stocking stuffers this year!

Congratulations! I’ll be reading your book curled up on a Iove-seat in my air-conditioned home on a sweltering summer day in Northern California. Until then, I’ll have my nose in several textbooks. Trust me, I’d much rather be reading your book curled up by the fireplace, on a winters day.

Thank you! We had our first little blast of winter yesterday with some wet snow (and I’m still raking the leaves in our yard). It’s great to connect with you, looking forward to your future posts!

My 5* which I am sharing here, so all your blog followers can see it too 🙂 I loved it Mike. I knew you would be one of those writers that grab a reader by the balls (throat for sensitive ppl) and don’t let go. I hope finishing this book gave you the bug to keep going. Fans want more! AKA ME!
If there is but one book you must read – this is IT!
No truer end of times tale has ever been told. An average man buries himself in alcohol and pills to avoid, not only the pain but the strange dreams as well. He is drawn by his good conscious into a fight he didn’t want. With references from Sponge Bob, to Tarantino, to M. Night Shyamalan the character keeps his ties to the life not long left as he tries to find out where he stands in a new world.
The one thing that caught me off guard was the few times it made me cry. So be prepared for that, and be prepared to start this book and not stop until you’ve read the end.
